Born in Tokyo in 1961. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, received degree in design in 1985. After working in advertising department at Suntory, founded Yasuhiro Sawada Design Studio in 1989. Tama Art University, Professor. Major awards include NY ADC Silver Prize in 1988, Bronze Prize from the International Poster Triennial Toyama in 1988, 1994 and 2003, Tokyo ADC Grand Prix and ACC Award in 1989, Tokyo ADC Award and Japan Magazine Advertisement Award Gold Prize in 1990, Tokyo TDC Silver Award in 1991 and JAGDA New Designer Award in 1993. Major exhibitions include solo show “P2” at Ginza Graphic Gallery in 1991. Participated in contemporary poster competition “LIFE” at Matsuya Ginza, Tokyo, in 1994, “Today’s Japan Design” at Harbour Front Centre, Canada, “Nipponjin” at Museo de Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1995, and “Graphic Wave” at Ginza Graphic Gallery in 2002. Currently a member of AGI, JAGDA, and Tokyo TDC.
